Driving to Disney on day one of our 4 Parks in 4 Day Adventure, while sitting in horrendous traffic on I-4, we decided to investigate the idea of staying closer to the theme parks. After all, it is summer vacation and we love Staycations and we hate Orlando traffic!

Before we had even reached Epcot’s parking lot I had researched and booked a deal I found at Cypress Pointe Resort. I had never heard of the resort prior to booking and had no idea what to expect the following day. Sometimes when I get a really good deal, I also get really worried. I was pretty confident though in my choice based on the fact that this was a Diamond Resort and we had previously stayed at one of their locations in Sedona, Arizona.

The only downside to booking at a Diamond Resort is they offer vacation ownership, also known to many as timeshare. I was dreading checking in because I knew from personal experience that once I did, I would be sent to the concierge who would then try to schedule me for a presentation. I did a good job of saying no while in Sedona, even with all of the free stuff they were offering me. I was limited on time and I didn’t want us to spend one second in a boring presentation.

So I knew the same thing was going to happen. I told Mark I would say no and we would be on our way. I didn’t say no. Who wouldn’t want a free cruise and a week stay in one of their other Diamond Resorts? All for a simple 120 minutes of my life, time I actually had since I didn’t have to drive back and forth from Disney the next few days.

Cypress Pointe Resort is very close to all of the Disney Parks and in the heart of the tourist area in Kissimmee. One of the main reasons I chose Cypress Pointe, other than the cost and location was the fact the rooms are not normal hotel rooms they are suites.

The Standard Suite Living Quarters

The standard suite at Cypress Pointe has two bedrooms, a living room, two bathrooms, a washer and dryer, a screened patio, dining area, and a full kitchen. The full kitchen is a must-have for us when we are staying somewhere more than one night so we can avoid the expense of eating out. This was a definite must for this trip because now we aren’t just talking about eating out, we are talking about eating out three days at Disney. Having the full kitchen not only allowed me to cook meals in the room, but I was able to prep sandwiches and snacks to take with us to the parks.

Although I wasn’t really looking at amenities when I booked the trip since we planned on spending most of our time in the Disney Parks, I was really happy with what the resort had to offer. In fact, not only were we able to utilize the amenities at our resort, but also those at their sister property right across the street.

With our limited two night stay, we did not utilize many of the amenities such as the tennis courts, barbeque areas, coffee shop, the deli or business center. We did, however, utilize the pool area a lot. It was a great way to cool off after a day at Disney.

The Volcano with waterfall at Cypress Pointe Resort

In the pool area, you will find a large resort pool with a double slide that the kids had lots of fun racing each other down. There is also a kiddie area with shooting jets for them to play in and a hot tub for the parents to enjoy as well. The pool has a very large volcano for decor that lights up at night. You will also find a playground and table tennis near the pool area. Eden and Xen are now much better table tennis players thanks to this.

When not outside, but still on the property we also enjoyed the game room. It had both free and paid games. My kids favorite was the giant Connect-Four. They would have played that for hours.

Cypress Pointe Resort was a great place for the Florida Fun Family to “camp out” for a couple of days while wrapping up our Disney adventures. Not only did we get to finish Disney with a bang, but we also discovered another place that we could enjoy staycationing at in the future.
